About

Riding horses has always been my passion, ever since I was a little girl. I was fascinated with how they move, their gracefulness and their willingness to please. My parents bought my first pony when I was 5 years old. It wasn’t long before my stable grew from one pony to many ponies. As a teenager I would purchase inexpensive ponies and horses which I would ride and train then resell for a profit. I would use the profits to invest in better horses and repeat the process until I could afford to buy and train better bred prospects.

Beginning at age twelve, I started showing POA ponies. Initially I showed POA’s throughout the State of California until my parents bought one of the first living quarter trailers ever made. Then we took the ponies on the road going across the country during the summers for up to 6 weeks at a time to show at POA regional, international, and world shows. I had a very successful career in POA’s, winning National Championships and World titles in multiple events ranging from English equitation, jumping, driving, gymkhana classes, to western equitation, reining, western trail and showmanship. I was also very active in the local Pony Club testing as a B2 and competing in several 3 day events. The greatest satisfaction I had regarding my success in POA was that I achieved it on ponies I trained myself.

Upon graduating from high school I enrolled in college and obtained a degree in animal health technology. After college I worked as a small animal health technician for 12 years. While I was working I started taking lessons and getting help from several local trainers including Todd Crawford, Wes Whitlock, Jimmie Flores Sr., and Jimmie Flores Jr. These trainers had a significant impact on me and influenced the direction of my professional career. After riding and training with these trainers I realized how much fun showing reining and working cow horses could be. I also learned how important it was to have well trained horses to be competitive. This is when I began riding and showing American Quarter Horses and American Paint Horses.

Also during this time, due to my reputation for making well broke horses for all disciplines, people were bring horses to me to train. I was trying to balance a job and ride all of the horses that people were sending me, but eventually something had to give. I quit the Animal hospital in 1998 and started training horses and clients full time. I train out of my ranch in Ramona, CA. To date I have trained numerous APHA World Champions, Reserve World Champions, National Honor Roll winners as well as state and local club Champions and Reserve Champions. In addition I have trained multiple AQHA World Show qualifying horses. My expertise is not limited to reining and working cow horses, I have also trained many talented clients and horses in western horsemanship, English equitation, western trail and western riding.

As a trainer I really enjoy the horses. To see them progress is amazing and gratifying. My philosophy is to have the horses in my barn showing for multiple years. They may have one owner or many owners but the longevity is what is very important to me. I also enjoy working with the owners. Most come to me with very little horse knowledge and I take them as far as they want to go whether in the show ring or just improving their horsemanship skills. Watching a person grow in knowledge and self-confidence as they reach their goals with their horse is very fulfilling to me.
